TabletKiosk® Announces Trade-Up Program for Sahara Branded Tablet PCs

Torrance, CA, October 1, 2013 —

TabletKiosk®, a leading manufacturer of enterprise-grade Tablet PCs and tablet accessories for business, announced today the availability of a new Trade-up Program designed to provide customers a hassle-free and financially-rewarding way to upgrade their existing Tablet PC hardware.

From October 1 through December 31, 2013, customers can trade in their older Sahara Slate PC or Sahara NetSlate Tablet PCs and receive $50 to $500 credit towards the purchase of a new Sahara Slate PC i575/i535 or Sahara NetSlate a525. This Trade-up offer can be used for all past purchases of Sahara Slate PC and Sahara NetSlate models, regardless of the purchase date or condition of the tablet. Additionally, TabletKiosk may also accept trade-ins from competing Tablet PC manufacturers on a case-by-case basis. For more information about trading in competitors' tablets, please call 310-782-1201.

“TabletKiosk is committed to offering best-in-class, enterprise-grade Tablet PCs and service. Due to the robust construction and user upgradability of the two Sahara lines, many TabletKiosk customers continue to use their older tablets, even though the technology has improved considerably,” said Martin Smekal, President of TabletKiosk. “With the recent launch of the newly refreshed Sahara Slate PC i500 and Sahara NetSlate a525, this Trade-up Program offers a financial incentive for our customers to finally upgrade.”

The 12.1" Sahara Slate PC brand was originally introduced in 2003 and it was one of the earliest touch screen Tablet PCs available in the US. Because previous product generations have benefitted from a backwards compatible ecosystem of business accessories, most of the older peripherals can be used with these new models to prolong customers' original return on investment.

TabletKiosk® and SMI Collaborate to Produce the Sahara EyeSlate™, the First Tablet PC with Market Ready Eye Tracking Integration

Torrance, CA, June 25, 2013 —

TabletKiosk®, a leading manufacturer of enterprise-grade Tablet PCs and accessories for business, today announces a new collaboration with SensoMotoric Instruments GmbH (SMI), a leader in eye tracking, eye control, guidance and registration technology, to cooperatively develop the Sahara EyeSlate™, the first Tablet PC with market ready eye tracking integration.

TabletKiosk and SMI plan to market the Sahara EyeSlate™ both as an augmentative/alternative communication device (AAC) and also as a powerful Windows 7 or Windows 8 PC that can be controlled via eye gaze, touch, voice or handwriting recognition in lieu of a physical keyboard and mouse.

The Sahara EyeSlate™ adds eye tracking functionality to TabletKiosk's signature line of Tablet PCs, the Sahara Slate PC i500 without requiring oversized and expensive add-on modules or awkward brackets as with most traditional augmentative computing devices.

“We are excited to partner with SMI to announce the Sahara EyeSlate™ Tablet PC with eye tracking technology,” said Martin Smekal, President and CEO of TabletKiosk. “As a specialty hardware manufacturer, TabletKiosk strives to align itself with cutting edge technology partners like SMI to jointly create customized and purpose-based hardware computing solutions.”

When TabletKiosk originally launched in 2003, it was one of the first Tablet PC manufacturers to incorporate touch screen technology into its entire line of computing solutions. Now, ten years later, TabletKiosk is once again transforming the Tablet PC platform by incorporating SMI's gaze tracking technology. Included with the system will be SMI's powerful Eye Tracking Software Developer's Kit (SDK) so that developers can integrate the Sahara EyeSlate™ Tablet PC's eye tracking functionality with their existing software solutions.

Christian Villwock, Director of SMIĀ“s OEM Solutions Business: “The use of eye tracking technology is gaining momentum in many application fields ranging from AAC, gaming and medical screening to gaze interaction in other industry and prosumer applications. We are proud to work with TabletKiosk and are convinced that this new all-in-one tablet PC provides tremendous customer value in many of these fields.”

TabletKiosk® Issues Voluntary Recall of Some Sahara NetSlate® a510 Tablet PCs

Torrance, CA, May 29, 2013 —

TabletKiosk engineers have issued a voluntary recall that affects Sahara NetSlate a510 Tablet PCs manufactured before December 31, 2012. A capacitor with an incorrect voltage rating was inadvertently placed on the motherboard at the factory during the manufacturing process. Under certain conditions the system may shutdown and subsequently not power back on. There is no danger of combustion or electrical discharge that would be hazardous to the user, the system simply becomes inoperable until repaired.

While it is likely that most of the Sahara NetSlate a510 owners will not experience this situation, TabletKiosk is being proactive and offering a voluntary recall to replace the capacitor free of charge in an attempt to minimize any unneccessary downtime for their customers. TabletKiosk will cover the capacitor replacement expenses as well as transportation costs (via carrier ground shipment) both to and from the service facility.

Customers who have questions can contact the TabletKiosk Technical Support team at 1-310-782-1201 (available Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific Time), or via email at support@tabletkiosk.com.

For more detailed information regarding this product recall, or to have a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) issued to replace the affected capacitor, customers should visit www.tabletkiosk.com/support/a510-rma_request.asp. Customers have until October 31, 2013, to register their Sahara NetSlate a510 Tablet PCs for this recall.

Federal Government Organization Achieves Cleaner and Faster Clinical Study Data Using Tablet PCs From TabletKiosk®

Torrance, CA, April 16, 2013 —

Infectious Disease Clinical Research Program (IDCRP), a worldwide network of Department of Defense (DoD) clinical and research centers that have collaborated to investigate infectious diseases challenges facing the military, revealed that it is using Tablet PCs from TabletKiosk to conduct a completely paperless clinical study resulting in 50% time savings and 100x fewer queries.

The clinical trial process was previously paper-based and involved almost 20,000 paper forms, which resulted in slower data capture into back-end systems for reporting, and more errors/queries.

IDCRP’s current electronic data capture (EDC) solution, deployed in Afghanistan, Kenya and Djibouti, incorporates the Sahara Slate PC® i500 running Mi-Forms mobile-forms technology from Mi-Co to create a comprehensive, all in one data collection unit.

The Sahara Slate PC® i500 is a slate Tablet PC powered by the Intel® Core™ i7 processor. This robust 12.1” Tablet PC solution features both a capacitive touch screen and an active digitizer (pen) panel to allow for highly accurate handwriting input and recognition used in the Mi-Forms software.

According to Josh Kumpf from IDCRP, “Missing or incorrect data is by and large a thing of the past as we can now mandate entry of key information into digital forms. We couldn’t direct attention, highlight blank fields, or ask CRCs to confirm suspect data on traditional paper forms, but we can in a robust computerized system like the one we have built around the Tablet PCs.”

Mr. Kumpf will be discussing the success of their mobile forms solution on April 16th at the Mi-Co PartnerEd Conference 2013 in Durham, NC.

Interested parties can download and read the entire case study by visiting www.tabletkiosk.com/mediaroom/casestudy/cs-idcrp.asp.

As a benefit of this revision, in general, customers may find that certain system configurations with the new motherboard run a bit cooler and have slightly better battery performance than those that contain the original motherboard and CPUs.

For more information regarding this system revision or the Sahara Slate PC i500 Tablet PC in general, please contact your TabletKiosk Account Representative and/or Authorized TabletKiosk Reseller.

Fourth Generation, 7” Ultra-Mobile Tablet PC offers enterprise-class computing with dual digitizer and multi-touch input, enhanced data security and desktop compatibility running Windows® Professional or Linux Operating Systems

Global Gaming Expo, Las Vegas, NV, October 2, 2012 —

TabletKiosk®, a leading provider of mobile touch screen computing solutions, today announced the debut of its newest member of its eo™ Ultra-Mobile Tablet PC line, the eo™ a7400 — a compact 7” handheld Business Tablet PC designed to run powerful enterprise software programs as well as cloud-based computing apps. The eo™ a7400 offers improved value, versatility and productivity with its small form factor, dual pen and touch input, modular expansion system, hot swappable battery pack and the ability to run desktop PC Operating Systems and software applications.

Powered by an Intel® Atom™ N2600 processor, the eo™ a7400 comes with a 64GB mSATA Solid State Drive (SSD), and features a 7.1” WSVGA, LED backlit LCD with dual mode capacitive multi-touch screen and active digitizer. The screen is auto-sensing and auto-switching and features award winning pen enabled technology by Wacom for enhanced signature capture and handwriting recognition. The eo™ a7400 combines the efficiency and familiarity of a full Windows Professional Operating System with the convenience and data collection capabilities of a traditional handheld device.

To ensure safe and secure data capture and transmission, the eo™ a7400 features PC standard connectivity via USB 2.0, 802.11bgn WiFi networking, optional 3.5G WWAN as well as enhanced hardware encryption via TPM (TCG v1.2). Additionally, eo™ a7400 offers an integrated 10/100 Ethernet port for direct access to corporate networks for maximum integrity and connectivity.

To keep workers productive all day, the eo™ a7400 features two Lithium-Ion battery packs for up to six hours of continuous, on-the-go computing. Additionally, one of the battery packs is internal while the second is external and hot swappable. This means that armed with an extra battery pack, workers can go a full shift without needing to stop and recharge the system.
