Position: Software OS Architect
Reporting to: Vice President Product Development
Summary
This position will formulate and drive TabletKiosk's OS architectures, solutions and strategies based on industry trends, technology relationships and ISV inputs. Key deliverables and responsibilities include roadmaps, supplier relationships, and management of development resources within the context of a highly focused and entrepreneurial start-up company.
Technical/Business Understanding:
- Experience in mobile computer design
- Working with marketing, operations and other engineering teams
- Experience working with ODMs highly desirable
- Able to debug and isolate system and component level problems and determine root cause
- Must be capable of documenting test results clearly, concisely and quickly
- Understanding of a design & development team environment required
- Capable of working in fast paced, multi-disciplined, ambiguous work environment
- Willingness to participate in evening conference calls
- Strong communication skills required
- Capable of working with multiple parties to deliver a complex program
- Other duties as assigned or are required from time to time
Preferred Experience and Requirements:
- Experience with multiple OS kernels, frameworks and OS development tools
- Experience with Web-based development tools such as; Java, Ajax, Dalvik
- History of playing a central role in bringing a Linux-based OS to market
- Established relationships with OSVs and software technology suppliers
- Capable of interfacing with Customers and ISVs
Minimum Experience and Education Requirements:
- BS Computer Science, 10 years of industry experience preferred
- Proven track record in development and testing laptop PC hardware/software with peripheral equipment and Linux compatible software
- Experience with Microsoft software and development tools
- Must demonstrate a successful track record in developing mobile computing devices
- Successfully managed and delivered products working with remote partners
- Experience should include working with: Intel based X86 design, OS ports, Linux device driver model and power management
